Principal's Message

Mariner Students, Parents and Community,

Welcome Back!!! We are very excited for the start of the 2022-2023 school year and are looking forward to a great year.

My name is Beth C. VanderVeen and I am excited to be serving the Mariner Community as the HS Principal. I have, most recently, been the Director of Student Services and Athletics for the Mukilteo School District for the past 9 years and previous to that, served as the High School Principal at Burlington-Edison High School for several years. I am very excited to be back in the building, working directly with students and staff and supporting them to be their very best.

Joining me in serving as building administrators are

  • Jaime Atencio (Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, grade 12)
  • Michelle Fankhauser (Assistant Principal/Activities, grade 11)
  • Jon Atkins (Assistant Principal, grade 10)
  • Mike Moore (Assistant Principal, grade 9)
  • Tyler Tuiasosopo, Dean of Students
  • Ryan Rayburn, Athletic Coordinator

We have been meeting regularly for the past few weeks planning and preparing for the start of school as well as an engaging school year.

Important information and dates:

  • Fall Sports – HS football started on August 17, 2022, but it is not too late to join if you are still interested. If you are interested in participating, please register on Final Forms. https://mukilteo-wa.finalforms.com/

  • School schedules will be released on September 2, 2022. Students will need to log into their Qmlativ account to review their schedule. Please have your schedule with you for the first day of school either by printing a copy for yourself or having it available on your electronic device.

  • First day of school for 9th grade students will be on September 7, 2022. Incoming 9th grade students will have Picture Day on this day, go to their classes, get acquainted with the many opportunities available at Mariner HS and participate in a school assembly.

Students will also need to have their ASB card with them in order to pay for a student admission ticket for any away event. Make sure to have your ASB card with you so you can take advantage of free and/or reduced admission prices.
