    Fourth Grade Curriculum Night:  This Wednesday, October 21st, the fourth grade team will be holding a Zoom Curriculum Night. Please come and learn more about your child's class, as well as ask questions you may have.

    Hello 4th grade families!

    Reminders for this week! 

    STAR Testing Continues:

    Your 4th grader will be taking the STAR Reading Test this week Each child is scheduled with a small group of students to take the computerized test, proctored by myself or another teacher through Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent to them in Schoology.

    Tips to Prepare for Testing:

    • Preparation—Ensure your child is well rested and has a good breakfast.
    • Environment—Provide a quiet environment at a table or desk that is free from distractions. Students taking STAR Math can use a paper and pencil to solve problems but should not use calculators. If headphones are available, students should use them for the assessment.
    • Support—Students should complete the test independently. The purpose for STAR Assessments is to help me understand what your child knows. It is not used for a grade. If your child gets stuck or asks for help, simply encourage them to choose the best answer and then move on to the next question.
    • Monitor—If possible, stay nearby where your child is testing to ensure they remain focused but avoid hovering and distracting.

    I will be sending a weekly email to keep you posted about upcoming events, as well as the concepts covered for the week.

    ¡Hola familias de 4to grado!

    Le enviaré un correo electrónico semanal para mantenerlo informado sobre los próximos eventos, así como sobre los conceptos cubiertos durante la semana.

    Prueba STAR:

    Su estudiante de 4to grado tomará el examen de matemáticas STAR ESTA semana, luego el examen de lectura STAR la semana del 12 de octubre. Cada niño está programado con un pequeño grupo de estudiantes para tomar el examen computarizado, supervisado por mí u otro maestro a través de Zoom. Se le enviará el enlace Zoom en Schoology.                                                             

    Consejos para prepararse para la prueba:

    • Preparación: Asegúrese de que su hijo esté bien descansado y tenga un buen desayuno.
    • Entorno: proporcione un entorno tranquilo en una mesa o escritorio sin distracciones. Los estudiantes que toman STAR Math pueden usar lápiz y papel para resolver problemas, pero no deben usar calculadoras. Si hay auriculares disponibles, los estudiantes deben usarlos para la evaluación.

  • Weekly News September 28 - October 2

    Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families,

     

    This is a friendly reminder to please let us know your plans for returning to in-person learning OR staying with distance learning if you have not already done so.

    It is important we hear from each family, so school staff will begin calling families who have not yet responded later this week.  (click on the blue letters for the link)

    Students have been working hard during our LIVE zoom sessions each day. Please try to help your students log on each day on time (9:00 a.m.), especially after coming back from specialist.  Specialist is from 10:30-11:00 each day. We resume our LIVE teaching at 11:10-12:00 each day except Wednesday. Please see the schedule in Schoology for specific LIVE and non-LIVE teaching times.

     

    Please encourage students to do all of their homework/classwork and submit it each day.  Each day during our LIVE instruction students are given time to work on both their math and either reading or writing.  All assignments and video lessons can be found in Schoology under the day of the week folder.

    The next series of family town hall webinars about in-person learning are coming soon. Make sure to get these dates on your calendar and watch for the Zoom link information before the event.

    The next SUPPLY deployment will be on Wednesday, October 7th from 12:00-5:00 at Olivia Park.
